We are dedicated to ensuring that your experience with us is as satisfying and relaxing as possible.

Your treatment programme will be designed for you, with a discreet professional and truly personal caring service.

Chinese medicine has two basic forms of treatment, Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Therapy, which treats both acute and chronic conditions and is suitable for all age groups from young babies to the elderly, even pregnant women.

Our clinic provides a variety of therapies including:

  • Acupuncture

  • Herbal Medicine

  • Cupping therapy

Acupuncture

Acupuncture works by stimulating the acupoints which are located the meridians or channels. It regulates the flow of Qi around the body through pathways, called meridians or channels. Very fine needles are quickly inserted into various acupoints on the body, and these acupoints are stimulated normally by the practitioner gently twiddling the needles. In recent years, medical scientists have discovered myofascial pathways that follow the meridians recorded by the early acupuncturists and the concept of Qi itself may overlap with developing knowledge of how cells in the body communicate.

In general, acupuncture is more responsive to various painful conditions, such as lower back pain and other musculoskeletal problems. It is also used for a wide variety of internal health conditions.

Chinese Herbal Therapy

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is one of the world’s oldest medical systems, still widely practised today throughout the world.

Chinese medicine, only herbal products are used in clinical practice in the UK. Each herb has its own specific characteristics and particular medical use to treat various diseases. It's prepared and processed in certain ways and used in the treatment of a wide range of complaints. The principles of treatment are to balance the body’s Yin and Yang.

Chinese medicine therapy must conduct a diagnostic consultation which will go into detail about your specific condition; the medication that you are taking, diet, past medical history, lifestyle, stress etc. Chinese herbal therapy will take your pulses and look at your tongue before making a prescription. Here at the Dr. Lai Clinic, we offer a range of treatments using Chinese herbal medicine to treat a wide range of conditions.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping therapy is a form of alternative medicine in which a local suction is created on the skin. It is believed to stimulate the flow of blood, lymph and Qi to the affected area. It helps to relieve pain in muscles, especially back pain from stiffness or injury, and clearing congestion in the chest.

What can be treated?
